Anycubic's new large-format resin printer packs an 18.3L build volume, a 14-inch 12K screen, and factory calibration starting at $849.
Anycubic goes big on resin
Anycubic opened presale for the Photon P1 Max on July 22, and the headline number is the build volume. At 18.3 liters, this is a large-format resin printer aimed at advanced users, studios, and small-batch production runs rather than the casual desktop hobbyist.
What you get for the money
The P1 Max centers on a 14-inch 12K monochrome LCD that Anycubic says holds more than 92 percent light uniformity across the whole plate. A precision-ground steel build plate and a rigid screen mount keep that detail consistent from corner to corner. For motion, the machine uses a C7-grade ball screw with linear guide rails and the new LighTurbo 4.0 light engine, which the company claims holds repeat positioning accuracy of plus or minus 0.01 mm through long jobs.
Large resin prints live or die on release force, and Anycubic is betting on its Wave Release Technology to cut separation force by more than 60 percent versus standard NFEP film. That should make big flat-bottomed models far less likely to rip the plate off mid-print.
Automation and resin handling
The printer ships factory calibrated and includes Intelligent Leveling System 3.0, which checks leveling before each job and shows real-time force values if you need to nudge it. During printing, Dynamic Release 3.0 adjusts lift height and speed based on release force, while Dynamic Light-Off Compensation 3.0 tunes light-off time to resin flow. An AI inspection system watches the build plate, bottom layers, resin level, and residue, though it is off by default and shows a recording notice when enabled.
Resin support is the other big story. The P1 Max handles viscosities up to 8000 cps and ships with preset profiles for Anycubic materials. A 1900 ml temperature-controlled vat holds up to 35°C, enough to finish a 300 mm model without a refill. Daily use gets a few quality-of-life wins: quick-release build plate and vat, a tool-free removable exposure screen, a resin drip hanger, and a pour spout. Operating noise stays at or below 45 dB, and AirPure 2.0 is available as an add-on for odor.
Pricing and presale tiers
Presale pricing runs in three windows: $849 with three bonuses from July 22 to August 3, $899 from August 4 to 11, and $959 from August 12 to 31. The bonus gifts disappear after September 1. That starting price undercuts most large-format resin competition and puts real pressure on rivals like Elegoo's Jupiter line.
The bottom line
Anycubic is clearly targeting shops that print large miniatures, props, and short production runs. The 18.3L volume, factory calibration, and high-viscosity resin support make it a serious bench tool, not a toy. The AI camera is a nice extra but stays optional, which is the right call for anyone worried about privacy on a device sitting in their workspace.
