ATLIX hired Christopher Schmitz away from EOS Additive Minds to build its Asia-Pacific sales team for industrial metal 3D printing.

ATLIX Expands Industrial Metal 3D Printing Into Asia-Pacific

ATLIX has appointed Christopher Schmitz as its new head of Asia-Pacific sales, placing a former EOS Additive Minds consultant in charge of building the company's presence from Japan outward.

Schmitz spent recent years advising aerospace and industrial manufacturers on scaling additive processes to production. That background fits ATLIX's current trajectory. The company, formerly known as Trumpf's TruPrint division before rebranding, has been pushing its xBUILD metal 3D printing systems into new markets.

The Asia-Pacific region represents a major opportunity for industrial metal AM. Japan, South Korea, and China all have mature aerospace and automotive sectors that need qualified metal printing partners. Schmitz's on-the-ground experience in those industries gives ATLIX a short cut to credibility.

This move also signals that ATLIX is done with being a niche European machine builder. Hiring someone with Schmitz's Rolodex suggests the company wants enterprise contracts, not hobbyist sales.

Industrial metal 3D printing has reached an inflection point. Machines are reliable enough for production. The bottleneck now is finding customers who know how to integrate additive into existing supply chains. Schmitz's job is to close that gap in APAC.
