One year after launching its Trust Center, Bambu Lab reports new security certifications, expanded bug bounty rewards, and more transparency for owners of its connected printers.

One year of public bug bounties

Bambu Lab's security initiative is one year old, and the company says it has paid out over $52,000 through its bug bounty program since launching the Trust Center in September 2025. The milestone, announced on the company's blog, also includes new global security certifications and a broader public disclosure policy.

The Trust Center was created after a series of security incidents involving connected 3D printers drew scrutiny from researchers. Bambu Lab promised a more open approach: a dedicated security page, a formal vulnerability disclosure program, and regular transparency reports. The bug bounty program has grown from a modest start to a multi-thousand-dollar operation, with researchers finding and reporting flaws across the printer's firmware, cloud backend, and companion app.

New certifications and faster patches

New certifications include compliance with IoT security standards in both European and Asian markets. The company says it now conducts regular third-party penetration testing and has streamlined its patching process so critical fixes reach printers faster. For owners, the practical effect is fewer unpatched vulnerabilities lingering in the fleet.

The blog post also highlighted community collaboration. Bambu Lab credits outside researchers, security conferences, and its own user base with helping identify edge cases that internal testing missed. That open dynamic is a shift from the closed, defensive posture many consumer hardware companies take.

Whether these changes fully address the underlying trust issues remains to be seen. But after a year of public reporting and paid bounties, Bambu Lab has at least built the infrastructure to respond when things break.
