The X2D adds a heated chamber, dual nozzles, and better filtration for under $900, making it the best value in Bambu's current lineup.
The X1 Carbon finally has a real successor
It has been nearly four years since Bambu Lab last refreshed the X series. The X1 Carbon defined what a consumer enclosed printer could be: fast, reliable, and almost too easy to use. The X2D takes that foundation and improves it in every direction that matters, while dropping the price below what the X1C cost at launch.
The headline change is the second nozzle. Dual extrusion on the X2D works for support material, multi-color prints, or faster single-color jobs with mirror mode. The nozzles reach 300 C, and the actively heated chamber goes up to 65 C. That combination opens up engineering materials like ABS, ASA, and PA-CF without the usual warping headaches.
Heated chamber versus chamber ventilation
The P2S, which sits just below the X2D in Bambu's lineup, circulates warm air but does not actively heat the chamber. That is fine for PLA and PETG, but it leaves a gap when you want to print demanding materials. The X2D closes that gap with a dedicated heater and a bed that climbs to 120 C. The printer also ships with activated carbon filtration from the factory, while the P2S requires an add-on kit.
In practice, these differences are invisible if you only print PLA and TPU. The dual nozzles still give you a tangible advantage: faster prints, easier support removal, and two-color models without a purge tower. If you have ever wanted to try nylon or carbon-fiber nylon, the X2D is the first Bambu that makes that feel routine rather than experimental.
Price and availability
The X2D starts at $649 for the printer alone. The Combo package with the AMS 2 Pro and filament dryer costs $899. That pricing puts it only slightly above the P2S despite a meaningfully better feature set. You can buy it directly from Bambu Lab, through MatterHackers, or at Best Buy.
The bottom line
The X2D is not a radical redesign. It is a careful refinement of the formula that made the X1 Carbon popular, delivered at a price that undercuts every enclosed Bambu before it. For anyone entering the enclosed-printer market for the first time, the X2D is the recommendation. For X1 Carbon owners, the upgrade path is clear: faster speeds, better materials support, and a lower relative cost than any previous Bambu refresh.
