Formnext Asia Shenzhen 2026 Becomes the Biggest AM Show in the Region

The numbers behind the show

Formnext Asia Shenzhen opens its doors this week, and the organisers are making it clear this is the largest edition yet. The fair runs from 26 to 28 August at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, filling 20,000 square metres of Hall 15 with 330 exhibitors. International visitor pre-registrations are up more than 50% compared with the same point last year, according to Messe Frankfurt.

The growth reflects Shenzhen's position as a manufacturing hub for both industrial and desktop 3D printing. The 2026 floor plan includes materials companies, printer makers, software vendors, post-processing firms, and inspection-tool suppliers. Big names returning include Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo, HP, UnionTech, Raise3D, eSUN, and Farsoon. New exhibitors include Epson, Snapmaker, and Meshy AI.

Desktop and industrial under one roof

This year's show is deliberately mixing industrial additive manufacturing with the consumer desktop scene. The 3D Print Farm and Consumer Products Zone has doubled its exhibitor count since 2025, targeting print farms, small-batch manufacturers, and product developers. That mirrors a wider trend: desktop machines are no longer just hobby tools; they are becoming production equipment for small businesses.

The fringe programme has also expanded to 12 forums. New sessions will cover humanoid robotics, AI data-centre cooling, 3D-printed footwear, and Shenzhen's desktop AM ecosystem. A footwear design contest with more than 100 submissions will hand out awards at the show, and a Maker Day co-organised with TroubleMaker will include factory tours and exhibitor walkthroughs.

Why the show matters

Formnext Asia Shenzhen has become a useful barometer for additive manufacturing in China and the wider Asian market. The 2025 edition grew visitor numbers by 78% and more than doubled international attendance. If the 2026 pre-registration numbers translate into footfall, the fair will confirm that demand for AM hardware, materials, and services in Asia is still climbing.

The practical takeaway

For buyers and engineers, the event is a chance to compare industrial metal and polymer systems alongside the latest desktop farms. For exhibitors, the show is a route into both Greater Bay Area manufacturers and international distributors. The real question is whether the new forums and the expanded desktop zone lead to deals, or whether they simply add noise to an already crowded show floor.
