HP's first fused-filament printer hits 500C at the hotend and 195C in the chamber, swapping modules to run ABS, Ultem, or PEEK on the same platform.

HP has spent more than a decade building its name in powder-based additive manufacturing, specifically Multi Jet Fusion. That changes today with the launch of the HP Industrial Filament 3D Printer 600 HT, the company's first entry into fused filament fabrication.

The 600 HT is aimed squarely at manufacturers who need high-temperature materials in production, not just lab experiments. Its fully enclosed build chamber stays actively heated up to 195C, which matters for materials like PEEK and Ultem that warp the moment thermal control slips. The build volume measures 380 x 380 x 420 mm, compact enough for a factory floor but large enough for functional end-use parts.

The most distinctive design choice is the modular extruder system. HP ships three print modules: one rated to 280C for ABS and carbon-fiber nylon, one to 360C for polycarbonate and Sabic's Ultem 9085, and one to 500C for PEEK, PAEK, and PEEK-CF. A team printing aerospace brackets can swap from polycarbonate to PEEK in minutes without running a second machine.

Each module supports dual high-speed extrusion and carbon-filled materials. The 0.4mm nozzle on the 360C and 500C modules prioritizes surface quality and accuracy over raw speed, which HP says suits the functional tooling and aerospace parts this machine targets. If you need faster deposition for large fixtures, that tradeoff is worth discussing with HP's applications team before buying.

HP is not locking customers into its own filament store. The system accepts third-party spools, and HP offers materials qualification support. The advantage of HP-branded spools is the NFC tag on each one. The printer reads it automatically, logging material type, batch number, and print conditions from start to finish. For regulated industries like aerospace, rail, and medical, that traceability chain is often required, not optional.

The accompanying Material Management System dries, stores, and post-anneals filament automatically. Pre-programmed annealing cycles for PEEK and PAEK aim to improve mechanical strength and chemical resistance without pulling parts out for a separate oven step. Removing that manual handling reduces batch-to-batch variation.

Security and service round out the enterprise pitch. The 600 HT carries UL 2011 and CE marks and includes built-in cybersecurity features. HP sells structured care packs with remote diagnostics, next-business-day onsite response, and periodic service checks. Application development consultancy is also available for shops that need help qualifying materials or writing print profiles.

HP's move into FFF is not a surprise, but the 600 HT is not a hobbyist machine dressed in industrial paint. The module-swapping architecture, the active chamber heating, and the traceability stack suggest HP spent time listening to manufacturers who already own metal and powder systems and now want a filament option that fits the same workflow. For buyers evaluating high-temperature FFF for regulated production, the 600 HT is worth a close look.
