Middle East AM leader Immensa establishes European Center of Excellence at Shell open innovation campus, operating Factory-as-a-Service model for digital supply chains.

Immensa, the leading on-demand additive manufacturing provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, has joined Shell's Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) — marking a significant step in the company's European expansion.

Building a European Footprint

Based originally in Saudi Arabia and Dubai, Immensa will establish a European Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing at ETCA. The campus is Shell's open innovation hub where industry, research, and technology collaborate to accelerate the energy transition.

Through this partnership, Immensa will operate a Factory-as-a-Service model to support customers in reducing lead times and physical inventory while improving supply chain resilience through digital, localized production.

Collaboration with Shell

Immensa will work alongside Shell's Additive Manufacturing team to operate ETCA's 3D Printing Centre of Excellence and deliver its Digital Supply Chain offering. The initial focus will be on long-lead spare parts for compressors, pumps, and valves — critical components in energy infrastructure.

ETCA provides the right ecosystem for our next phase of European growth. The campus enables us to deliver advanced manufacturing solutions closer to our customers while maintaining the high standards required in regulated industries, said Immensa COO Julian Callanan.

What This Means

This partnership represents a growing trend of energy companies embracing additive manufacturing for supply chain optimization. By digitalizing spare parts inventory, companies can reduce warehousing costs and lead times dramatically — printing parts on demand when needed rather than keeping extensive physical stock.

The collaboration positions both Shell and Immensa at the forefront of industrial AM adoption in Europe, particularly in the energy sector where component lead times can stretch to months.
