Massivit's RapidWings platform now offers on-demand composite tooling in North America through Artek, cutting aerospace and defence tooling lead times from months to days.
What changed
Massivit is expanding its RapidWings manufacturing platform into North America through a new partnership with design and manufacturing firm Artek. The collaboration will offer on-demand large-format composite tooling for aerospace and defence customers at Artek's facility.
The service covers prototyping, demonstrations, and full-scale tooling production. Massivit says it can cut traditional tooling lead times from months down to days, a 90% improvement.
How it works
At the center of the operation is Massivit's Cast-In-Motion technology. It deposits dual-component materials to build isotropic moulds, masters, jigs, and fixtures that are autoclave-ready. Unlike foams or thermoplastics, these tools handle repeated heating cycles without losing dimensional stability.
CIM materials were co-developed with Sika. Massivit says the resulting moulds withstand hundreds of cycles, which matters for programs ramping up drone and airframe production.
The push for local supply chains
US military branches and defence contractors are facing production backlogs as demand outpaces legacy manufacturing capacity. Artek CEO Sam Reiser notes that additive tooling lets companies move faster than offshore alternatives. Massivit CEO Yossi Azarzar adds that the expansion supports sovereign, on-demand production closer to the point of need.
