A California Industrial Printer Ready to Ship
R3 Printing's R3 Printer Ultra starts shipping August 31, 2026, marking one of the few American-made industrial fused filament fabrication machines available today. Co-founders Paul Sieradzki and Petra Wood designed, assembled, and tested the system in Los Angeles, where the company claims roughly 80 percent of each printer's components are sourced domestically.
The R3 Printer Ultra targets high-performance polymer applications. Its 150°C heated chamber and elevated build platform unlock materials such as PEEK, PEKK, and ULTEM. The base R3 Printer already handles engineering-grade nylon, carbon-fiber composites, and PPS. Both systems use a dual-nozzle setup with inactive nozzle lift and run on a standard 120V outlet, sidestepping the three-phase power requirement most industrial printers demand.
Built From Service Bureau Frustration
Sieradzki and Wood started R3 Printing after running a 3D printing service bureau in New York. Desktop machines needed constant attention. Industrial systems locked users into proprietary materials and software. Neither solved the problems they were seeing in production. The pair spent nearly eight years developing their own platform before selling a single unit.
They funded the build without venture capital. Multiple equity crowdfunding campaigns, New York State funding, and an early Air Force grant covered development costs. That independence let the team keep beta units running in real production environments for nearly two years before launching commercially.
Open Materials, Open Software
R3 deliberately avoids locking customers into a single material supplier or proprietary slicer. The printers accept a wide range of engineering polymers and work with standard open-source slicing platforms. Sieradzki believes materials innovation will drive industrial AM forward, and he does not want customers waiting for R3 to certify every new filament.
Markets span aerospace, defense, robotics, medical devices, prosthetics, automotive, and product development. Wood says prototyping remains as important as end-use production, even as more companies move to additive manufacturing for final parts.
The R3 Printer Ultra begins shipping August 31. The base R3 Printer is already available. Both machines are backed by a domestic support and service network.
