Slant 3D launched a free web app that generates custom wheels, casters, and rollers to order, eliminating the catalog hunt for non-standard sizes.

Most hardware projects eventually need a wheel. Robots, carts, conveyor builds, and even wheelbarrows all run into the same problem: the size you need does not exist in a catalog. Standard diameters stop at 6 inches or jump to 6.5 inches. Mounting hole patterns, hub thickness, and bearing types add more constraints. You end up designing the whole machine around whatever wheel happens to be available.

Slant 3D founder Gabe described exactly that scenario from 10 years ago. While building a home robot called Jerry, he needed 6.35-inch wheels with a six-hole hub and specific thickness. That size did not exist off the shelf. The prototype wheels came from a band saw and plywood. They worked for testing but would never survive real use.

Injection molding, blow molding, and machining all have trade-offs. Molds are expensive. Blow-molded parts compress and crack. Machining removes the cost advantage. 3D printing solves the geometry problem, but building a print farm just for wheels is not practical for most teams.

Slant 3D's new Wheel Maker app removes that barrier. You enter the diameter, width, hub type, and bearing preference, and the app generates a wheel design on demand. Orders ship as finished parts in outdoor-grade material, ready to mount and run.

The tool targets anyone prototyping robots, building factory equipment, or just needing a replacement caster. Instead of browsing supplier sites and calling sales teams, you specify the part and get it shipped. The wheel becomes an afterthought instead of a design constraint.
