Stratasys donated a refurbished F370 printer to Limbitless Solutions as the 12-year partnership shifts toward circular manufacturing.

Stratasys and Limbitless Solutions are deepening a partnership that has already delivered hundreds of 3D-printed prosthetic arms to children, with a new emphasis on sustainability and circular manufacturing.

The two organizations announced an expanded collaboration at the University of Central Florida, where Limbitless runs a nonprofit research lab dedicated to bionic prosthetics for kids. Since 2014, Stratasys has supplied industrial 3D printers, materials, and engineering expertise. Limbitless uses those systems to produce end-use prosthetic components, thermoform molds for cosmetic shells, and rapid prototypes before injection molding.

The new element in this year's agreement is a Certified Pre-Owned Stratasys F370 printer. The CPO program factory-refurbishes used industrial printers, replacing worn parts and recalibrating motion controllers to OEM specifications. By redeploying existing hardware instead of building new machines, Stratasys cuts electronic waste and gives resource-constrained nonprofits access to reliable equipment at lower cost.

Rosa Coblens, Stratasys's VP of Sustainability and Communications, said the donation reflects the company's Mindful Manufacturing approach. She noted that reconditioning high-performing equipment reduces waste while extending the reach of purpose-driven organizations like Limbitless.

Albert Manero, Limbitless's Executive Director and co-founder, described the partnership as starting with a single phone call during his graduate school days. What began as a short conversation turned into a 12-year collaboration that has shipped prosthetics across the United States and beyond. He said the partnership shows how additive manufacturing can create tangible impact for children while training the next generation of engineers.

The dedicated Limbitless lab at UCF houses multiple Stratasys systems and serves as a hands-on classroom for engineering students. Students learn build orientation, part behavior under repeated stress, and quality control workflows for additive orthotics and prosthetics. The CPO printer will support ongoing operations, student education, and community outreach.

For Stratasys, the move ties its social impact work to broader corporate sustainability goals. The CPO program extends the lifecycle of industrial capital equipment and reduces the carbon footprint associated with new machine production. For Limbitless, the refurbished printer means more capacity to produce customized bionic arms without diverting donations from other program needs.

The prosthetics themselves are designed to be expressive as well as functional. Children can choose colors and themes for their cosmetic shells, which helps build confidence and encourages self-expression. That attention to psychology alongside biomechanics has become a Limbitless signature, and Stratasys's manufacturing support makes the individualized production model viable at scale.
