A US jury awarded Stratasys $27.6 million after finding Bambu Lab infringed four 3D printing patents. A second trial is pending.

A federal jury in Marshall, Texas has ordered Bambu Lab to pay Stratasys approximately $27.6 million in damages, delivering the first major ruling in a patent dispute that has shadowed the Chinese 3D printer maker since 2024.

The verdict covers four of the five patents Stratasys originally accused Bambu Lab of infringing. The jury found all four patents valid and infringed after a week-long trial in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

The fifth patent in Stratasys' original complaint will be addressed in a separate trial that has not yet been scheduled.

Bambu Lab has not commented on the verdict. The company previously stated it 'has always advocated for and upheld the principles of respecting and protecting intellectual property.'

The case names three affiliate organizations alongside Bambu Lab: Shanghai Lunkuo Technology, Tuozhu Technology Limited, and Shenzhen Tuozhu Technology.

Stratasys said it 'greatly appreciates the jury's careful consideration of this case and the Court's able stewardship of the proceedings.'

The ruling is a clear win for Stratasys in its effort to protect its core FDM technology. It also sends a signal to other fast-growing consumer 3D printer brands about the risks of ignoring established patent boundaries.
