The two companies released official 3MF and STL files so makers can design, print, and share custom accessories for Insta360's flagship 8K gimbal camera.

Camera makers meet the maker community

Insta360 has become the first camera brand to open an official page on Bambu Lab's MakerWorld platform. The move is part of a wider collaboration: the two companies are running a design challenge that gives makers official 3MF and STL files for the Insta360 Luna Ultra, an 8K dual-lens gimbal camera.

The idea is straightforward. Instead of buying whatever accessories exist, owners can design, print, and share hardware built specifically for their shooting style.

Two ways to enter

The challenge has two tracks. Track A is the Model Design Challenge: designers download the official Luna Ultra files from MakerWorld, build a functional or cosmetic accessory, and upload it with the hashtag #PrintForLuna. Track B is the Social Content Challenge: creators post photos, videos, or sketches of their idea on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, or Reddit's r/Insta360, tagging #PrintForLuna, #BambuLab, and #Insta360LunaUltra.

Prizes and timeline

There are 40 joint awards across both tracks, with hardware, gift cards, and coupons totaling $11,160. Top prizes include an Insta360 Luna Ultra Creator Bundle and a Bambu Lab X2D Combo or A2L Combo. Submissions ran from July 10 to August 9, 2026, with final winners announced on August 20.

Why this matters

For Insta360, the partnership is a way to let its community customize hardware without managing a manufacturing pipeline. For Bambu Lab, it is another example of MakerWorld acting as a distribution channel for printable products. The official files mean accessories should fit reliably, which is usually the hardest part of designing camera gear around an existing product.

Full rules and submission details are on the MakerWorld Luna Ultra model page and the Bambu Lab announcement.
