Bambu Lab retires the P1P after three years, but pledges five years of parts and support through 2031.
One of Bambu Lab's Most Popular Printers Says Goodbye
Bambu Lab has officially retired the P1P desktop FFF 3D printer, ending manufacturing and new orders while laying out a firm end-of-life schedule that gives owners years of ongoing support. The company framed the move as the close of a three-year run for a machine it called "one of the most popular desktop 3D printers of recent years."
"The P1P leaves behind a rich legacy, proudly carried on by the P1S and P2S models," Bambu Lab stated in their announcement.
The Official EOL Timeline
Bambu Lab has been remarkably transparent about their support commitments:
- End of manufacturing and active sales: February 10, 2026
- Software and firmware bug fixes: November 14, 2027
- Security patches: November 14, 2029
- Spare parts supply: February 2031
- Technical support: February 2031
"The EOL of the P1P simply means that the 3D printer will no longer be manufactured or sold. Support in terms of spare parts availability and service will continue for the next five years, until 2031," the company clarified.
Why Now?
The P1P was Bambu Lab's entry-to-mid level P-series machine — essentially a P1S without the enclosure. It kept the X1-derived core mechanics, electronics, and motion control while dropping the enclosure and color display, and worked with the AMS system for multi-color and multi-material prints.
With the P2S now available, maintaining two P1-series models no longer made business sense. "The decision to declare the P1P end-of-life is a natural business move... Ultimately, the market itself decided, as consumers had long been choosing the P1S over the P1P, or opting for the newer and more advanced P2S."
What P1P Owners Need to Know
- Your printer will continue working — firmware updates continue through late 2027
- Most spare parts are interchangeable with P1S, easing maintenance
- Consider stocking high-use spares like hotends and belts
- Some accessories may go out of stock sooner than others
- Resale value may increase as the machine becomes a collectors item
The Bigger Picture
This retirement underscores the rapid product turnover in desktop 3D printing while setting an unusually long support window for a consumer-grade machine. Five years of guaranteed parts and support is exceptional in the industry.
If you're looking to upgrade, the P1S offers the enclosure and display the P1P lacked, while the P2S represents the latest generation of Bambu Lab's P-series technology.
