Former BASF filament spinoff Bedrock 3D has a new owner. 819 Capital Partners acquired the Dutch company and folded it into Novio-Scan Holding, giving the team financial stability and access to a broader 3D printing group.

Bedrock 3D, the Dutch filament manufacturer that spun out of BASF's Forward AM business, now has a clear path forward. 819 Capital Partners acquired the company and placed it inside Novio-Scan Holding, the group that already owns hardware and software brands in 3D printing.

The deal gives Bedrock 3D what it has lacked since the BASF split: a long term home with no forced exit timeline. 819 Capital is a buy and build investor, which means it intends to hold and grow businesses rather than flip them. That matters for a filament maker that needs to invest in material science and production capacity without the pressure of a near term sale.

Bedrock 3D will keep operating from its facility in Emmen, Netherlands. The company name will change from Forward AM Technologies Netherlands to Bedrock 3D B.V. The existing team stays in place, and the immediate focus is on reliable delivery times, stable quality, and controlled growth.

The Novio-Scan group already includes Insolution, which makes 3D printers for podiatry and custom insoles. That gives Bedrock 3D a built in channel for its materials and a partner that uses them daily. The combination covers the full stack: filament, printer, software, and a finished product.

For the wider market, the acquisition is a signal that professional-grade filament is consolidating into fewer, better-capitalized players. BASF's exit from the consumer-facing Forward AM brand left Bedrock 3D in an uncertain position. 819 Capital's backing removes that uncertainty and links the filament line to a group that already understands end to end manufacturing.

The deal also keeps 30 jobs in Emmen. Local reports noted that the team had been operating without the financial security of a larger parent since the BASF separation. That security now comes with a mandate to grow, but without a fixed resale date. In practice, that means Bedrock 3D can invest in new material grades and capacity upgrades without justifying every euro to a conglomerate that might break the business apart later.

Filament buyers should watch for product line extensions in the coming quarters. Novio-Scan's model is to let acquired companies operate independently while sharing technology and distribution. Bedrock 3D's material expertise combined with Insolution's printer and software stack could produce tightly optimized material machine bundles for specific industries, starting with medical and industrial applications.
