The SPARKX i8 uses Creality's QuarTeks system to merge four filament channels inside a single hotend, promising color changes under one second and less purge waste.
Creality announced the SPARKX i8 on August 19, 2026, just seven months after the i7 started shipping. The whole pitch this time is the printhead. The company calls it QuarTeks, and it runs four filament channels into one nozzle with a shared path only 1.7 mm long. The goal is to make color swaps faster and cleaner than the AMS-style systems that flush a long tube before every change.
On paper, the numbers look big. Creality claims under one second per filament switch, up to 5x faster prints, and near-zero purge waste on select models. A Crystal Dragon print is listed at 14 hours 41 minutes, versus 42 hours 18 minutes for others. Filament waste on the same model is 183.57 g versus 619.55 g. Those are dramatic differences, but the comparison machines are not named, which makes the gap hard to verify.
Under the printhead, the i8 is mostly an i7. The build volume is the same 260 x 260 x 255 mm. The top speed is still 500 mm/s with 10,000 mm/s squared acceleration. The bed reaches 100 C, the hotend reaches 300 C, and the included plate is the same dual-sided textured PEI sheet. The i8 gets 81-point auto leveling, a 5-second quick-release hotend, and 0.6 kg of extra mass. Otherwise, the chassis and screen are unchanged.
The skepticism is fair. The 5x faster claim ranges from 1.25x against a four-toolhead changer to 6.2x against a four-color bed slinger, depending on which chart you read. The 0 g waste wording only applies to select models where purge material gets dropped into infill. And the 438 kg of yearly filament savings would require more than 600 days of nonstop printing by Creality's own numbers. It is a marketing figure, not a realistic ownership metric.
What is actually interesting is the plumbing. Most multi-color systems force old filament through a shared channel before new filament reaches the nozzle. QuarTeks shortens that shared section by feeding all four colors almost to the tip of the hotend. A shorter shared path means less purge per swap, and that is a real mechanical advantage over AMS-style feeders. It is not magic, but it is a sensible way to cut waste without adding tool-changing complexity.
The rest of the package is standard Creality. A 720p camera watches prints, Creality Cloud handles remote slicing and one-tap printing, and the machine arrives 90% assembled. Connectivity is 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, which can be a bottleneck in crowded apartments. The frame is still open, so ABS and ASA printing will need an enclosure.
The real problem is that you cannot buy one yet. The launch page only takes email signups. There is no price, no ship date, and no confirmed crowdfunding platform. If the i7 is a guide, early backers may pay around $340, with retail climbing toward $400. But that is a guess until Creality publishes real numbers.
For i7 owners, the announcement is awkward. Their printer is seven months old and already looks like the previous generation. The good news is that the i8's build plate and filament accessories are likely compatible. The bad news is that the i7's external CFS Lite looks bulkier than the i8's integrated toolhead solution, and there is no announced upgrade path.
Creality is clearly trying to own the multi-color desktop market by launching variants faster than anyone can review them. The QuarTeks idea has merit, but the marketing claims need independent testing. Anyone signing up for early access should treat the big numbers as best-case benchmarks, not guarantees.
