Toray drops game-changing spherical PA12 powder, California takes on ghost guns, Raise3D goes SLS, and ELEGOO heads to PAX East.
🔧 Firmware & Software
BigTreeTech pushed updates to their wiki neo, adding support for the new Panda_Aura_A1 printer. If you are running this board, time to check for firmware updates.
HP is promising a big reveal on March 31st — a production-ready industrial filament 3D printing solution. This could be the move we have been waiting for from HP in the FDM space.
🖨️ New Hardware
Toray just dropped Toraypearl PA12 — a truly spherical polyamide 12 powder for powder bed fusion. The big win here is surface quality: 2.5x smoother than conventional PA12, with Ra around 7μm, and Charpy impact strength over 50 kJ/m². If you are doing SLS posts, this means way less sanding.
Raise3D is making a serious play for the complete polymer AM ecosystem. Their new SLS capability rounds out what was already a strong FDM lineup — they are going end-to-end now.
ELEGOO is heading to PAX East (Booth 11038, March 26-29 in Boston). If you are in the area, go check out their machines live.
🌟 Print of the Day
This one is for the engineers: the Conflux Technology 3D printed oil cooler just completed a full endurance race on a Multimatic-built car. 20% better heat rejection than conventional cooling. Motorsport proving AM works under real-world stress.
🤖 AI & Generative Design
Manufacturing Technology Project (MTP) is building AI tools that combine multiphysics simulation and digital twins to make metal AM predictive. Think less trial-and-error, more first-time-right parts.
🔥 Community Buzz
California just filed a landmark lawsuit against operators of 3D printed ghost gun networks. The state is going after Gatalog Foundation and CTRLPew for distributing blueprints for untraceable firearms. This is only getting started — AB 2047 would require every consumer 3D printer sold in California to block gun designs by 2029.
On the lighter side, the MakerWorld community is buzzing about MaKim becoming one of the top creators — went from hobbyist curiosity to iconic designs that bring joy to thousands. That is what this is all about.
📌 Quick Fixes
Struggling with layer separation? Sovol is out here with a guide: bump your print temp, slow down, reduce cooling, and double-check your material settings. Classic fixes that work.
Warping on big prints? Same guide covers that too — heated bed, enclosure, and proper adhesion helpers make a massive difference on large parts.
