Elegoo is taking preorders for the Canvas multicolor add-on, which brings four-color printing to the Centauri Carbon for $55.
Elegoo has opened preorders for the Canvas multicolor kit, an add-on that gives the Centauri Carbon four-color printing capability. The kit costs $55 and is expected to ship in September.
How Canvas works
The Canvas system is built around the RFD-6, a filament storage and feeding unit that holds six spools and doubles as a dryer. For the Centauri Carbon, Elegoo designed a compact version that mounts directly to the printer without major modifications. A dual-motor setup handles filament switching and feeding, while the printer manages retraction automatically.
In practice, you load up to four colors and let the printer swap them during a job. The system is compatible with existing Centauri Carbon machines, so owners do not need to buy a new printer to get multicolor output.
What you actually get
The $55 preorder includes the RFD-6 unit sized for the Centauri Carbon, the filament switching hardware, and the software integration needed to control color changes from the slicer. Elegoo says the unit installs without complex disassembly. The RFD-6 keeps filament dry during storage, which is useful if you leave spools loaded between prints.
The Centauri Carbon already prints well as a single-color machine. Canvas removes the biggest limitation for users who want to print models with multiple colors or text without swapping filament by hand.
Preorder details
Elegoo is accepting preorders now at $55. Shipping is estimated for September. The company has not announced a final retail price, so the current preorder rate may be the lowest price before launch.
For anyone who bought the Centauri Carbon for budget-friendly CoreXY printing, Canvas is a cheap way to add multicolor capability without jumping to a larger machine with an integrated material system.
