Elegoo adds integrated 4-color printing to the Centauri Carbon 2 with the new CANVAS system.

Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2: The Multi-Color Upgrade

When Elegoo launched the original Centauri Carbon, it offered Bambu Lab P1S-level performance at a lower price. The one thing missing? Multi-color capability. That changes with the Centauri Carbon 2, which adds the CANVAS multi-material system for up to four colors.

What Is CANVAS?

CANVAS is Elegoo answer to Bambu Lab AMS and Prusa MMU. Unlike Bambu external unit, CANVAS is integrated into the right side of the printer enclosure. Four filament spools feed into a single unit that switches between them on demand.

Key features include four-spool capacity, integrated design, RFID scanning for Elegoo filament, short PTFE path for faster swaps, and easier maintenance than traditional AMS units.

How It Compares to Bambu AMS

The CANVAS system has tradeoffs versus Bambu AMS. Pros include built-in design, faster swaps, and easier jam clearing. Cons include no expansion beyond four spools, exposed spools vulnerable to humidity, and no upgrade path for original Centauri Carbon owners.

Print Quality

The Centauri Carbon 2 prints as well as the original, with firmware reliability issues resolved. Multi-color prints work reliably when sliced with ElegooSlicer.

For makers wanting multi-color capability without the Bambu premium, the Centauri Carbon 2 is the most compelling option yet.
