Farsoon debuts FS1311M-U at TCT Asia with 16-laser configuration and 1310×1310×1650mm build volume, targeting aerospace, automotive, and energy industries.
A New Era for Large-Format Metal AM
Farsoon has announced two new large-format metal Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) systems at TCT Asia, with the flagship FS1311M-U featuring an impressive 16-laser configuration and a build volume of 1310 × 1310 × 1650 mm.
The system is designed for the production of metre-scale metal components in demanding industries including aerospace, automotive, and energy.
Key Specifications
- Build Volume: 1310 × 1310 × 1650 mm
- Laser Configuration: 16 lasers
- Build Rate: Up to 1440 cm³/h for Ti-6Al-4V at 150 µm layer thickness
- Beam Shaping: Optional technology for optimized energy distribution
Features Designed for Production
Farsoon's new system includes several features aimed at industrial production environments:
- Compact Design: The printer stacks on a second level with downstream processes packed underneath, reducing factory footprint
- Robust Optical System: Uniform multi-laser overlap with intelligent recoating monitoring
- Airflow Architecture: Multi-layer gas flow with air-wall design for clean printing environment
- Intelligent MES Connectivity: Streamlined workflows with operational cost reductions
- Closed-Loop Powder Management: Three-station design enabling parallel operations
- Permanent Filtration: Extended build jobs with minimal downtime
- Real-Time Process Monitoring: Continuous oversight of print parameters
FS812M-U: The Smaller Alternative
Alongside the FS1311M-U, Farsoon also announced the FS812M-U, building on the successful 800-series platform with 40 installations worldwide. This system features 8 or 10 lasers with an extended build volume of 810 × 810 × 1700 mm—but with a 41% smaller footprint than its predecessor.
With over 40 units already in the field, the 800-series has proven itself as the workhorse for large-format metal AM across demanding industries, said Dr. Xiaoshu Xu, Founder and Chairman at Farsoon. The new FS812M-U represents a quantum leap forward. By drastically reducing the system footprint while increasing build height and integrating advanced thermal management, we are empowering our customers to produce taller, more complex parts with greater efficiency and lower cost-per-part than ever before.
What This Means for the Industry
The 16-laser configuration marks another step in the multi-laser arms race in metal additive manufacturing. With build rates reaching 1440 cm³/h, Farsoon is positioning these systems for true series production in industries that require both scale and precision.
