GE Aerospace is pouring over €110 million into European manufacturing sites in 2026, with a substantial portion dedicated to expanding additive manufacturing capabilities across five countries.
Big Bet on European Additive Manufacturing
GE Aerospace has announced a massive €110 million investment in its European manufacturing operations for 2026, with additive manufacturing playing a central role in the expansion.
The investment will fund new test cells, advanced machining equipment, and significant upgrades to additive manufacturing capabilities at facilities across five European countries: Italy, Poland, the UK, Czech Republic, and Romania.
Where the Money Goes
Italy leads the way with €77 million, bringing new test cells online and enhancing AM capabilities at multiple sites.
Poland receives €15 million for advanced grinding, machining, welding, and inspection equipment.
The UK gets €10 million for testing, manufacturing, and electronics upgrades.
Czech Republic invests €8 million in precision machining and quality inspection technology.
Romania receives €3 million for meta-cutting machine integration.
In addition, GE Aerospace plans approximately €40 million across MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) and component repair facilities in Europe, part of a global $1 billion investment announced in 2024.
More Than 1,000 New Jobs
Alongside the physical investments, GE Aerospace is hiring over 1,000 people throughout Europe in 2026. The company is also launching workforce training grants reaching 800 vocational students in the UK and Italy, and expanding its Next Engineers program in Warsaw to reach over 4,000 students.
Building on Previous Commitments
This new investment builds on the $650 million GE Aerospace announced in 2024, of which over $150 million was allocated to facilities running additive manufacturing equipment. The company has been steadily building its AM capabilities, particularly in the production of complex engine components that benefit from lattice structures and topology-optimized designs.
GE Aerospace is one of the pioneers of metal additive manufacturing in aerospace, with applications ranging from fuel nozzles (over 100,000 produced) to structural components. This latest investment signals confidence that AM is ready for full-scale industrial deployment.
