HeyGears has pulled in more than $14.6 million on Kickstarter for its G1 desktop machine, a hybrid that combines UV flatbed printing with resin 3D printing. The campaign still has 15 days left, and the funding total already places it among the largest Kickstarter projects ever.
The company, founded in 2015, has focused on vat polymerization systems for dental and home markets. The G1 marks its biggest consumer push yet. The printer can produce roughly 10 million colors at a maximum resolution of 1440 x 2400 DPI. It uses an Epson I3200-U1HD print head with 3,200 nozzles arranged in eight rows.
Build volume measures 420 x 330 x 130 mm. The machine handles 2D prints, 3D texture prints, and direct-to-garment output. It prints on t-shirts, wall films, paper, and standard resin parts. UV ink works for graphics and textures, while aqueous inks enable garment printing. UV resins and water-soluble support material make 3D printing possible.
HeyGears equipped the G1 with an eight-channel ink system and a quad-layer anti-clogging setup. A line-scan camera handles auto-calibration by moving across the print bed and capturing one-pixel-wide images synchronized with an encoder. The company also includes HeyVerse AI plus Blueprint Studio for image and file conversion.
The starting price sits around $3,000, depending on the bundle. The campaign page shows more than 3,400 backers so far. Crowdfunding always carries execution risk, but the funding level suggests strong demand for color-capable desktop machines. Competitors are also pushing hybrid UV and 3D systems, so the G1 is part of a broader shift toward multi-function desktop tools.
