A Desktop Machine That Prints in Full Color

HeyGears is not playing small with its new G1 Series. The company has already raised over $14 million on Kickstarter by promising something most desktop 3D printers cannot do: full-color output without hand painting.

The star of the lineup is the G1X. It uses an Epson i3200 printhead with eight ink channels and 3,200 nozzles to jet UV-cured color layer by layer. The result is models with gradients, fine detail, and even transparent sections, all in a single print. Water-soluble support material dissolves away in water, so cleanup does not require cutting tools or hours of sanding.

Beyond 3D, the G1X works as a UV flatbed printer. It can apply graphics directly to phone cases, mugs, cylindrical objects, and more than 400 other materials. That second use case matters. A small customization shop can buy one machine and cover both prototype models and finished merchandise.

Pricing and Shipping

Super Early Bird pricing runs through the Kickstarter campaign. The G1 Starter Pack, which includes 2D and 3D-texture UV printing but not full-color 3D, starts at $1,999. The G1X Starter Pack with full-color 3D capability asks $3,299. The G1X Full-3D Pack, which adds the resin station and UV 3D resin kit, is $3,599. A deluxe bundle with a roll-to-film laminator and rotary printing attachment costs $4,999. Shipping for the G1X configurations is targeted for December 2026, while the G1 Starter Pack ships in March 2027.

Why It Matters

Full-color 3D printing has existed, but it has lived in industrial labs or required outsourcing. HeyGears is trying to move it to a desktop price point. If the production units deliver on the promised color accuracy and reliability, the G1X could become the standard tool for collectible figure makers, product designers, and small-batch manufacturers who need painted-looking parts fast.

The campaign still has 15 days left as of this writing. Backers seem willing to bet early that HeyGears can deliver.
