Kallisio expanded direct patient access to Stentra, a custom 3D-printed device that holds oral structures steady during radiation therapy.
What Stentra Does
Kallisio announced an expanded program to help patients preparing for head and neck radiation therapy access Stentra, a custom-fit 3D-printed intraoral device already FDA-cleared and in clinical use.
The device is made from a digital dental scan of each patient's mouth. Patients wear it during every radiation session to hold the tongue, lips, and other oral structures in the same position. Consistent placement helps the radiation team hit the target while keeping healthy tissue out of the high-dose area.
How Patients Get It
Patients and caregivers can contact Kallisio directly from the website. The team will coordinate with the radiation oncologist to confirm clinical eligibility, arrange the required intraoral digital scan with a local dental professional, and work with the care team to enable use.
If the treatment center has not yet adopted Stentra, Kallisio will sponsor the device for the patient when appropriate. CEO Rajan Patel said the goal is to help eligible patients access Stentra even if their care team has not yet adopted the solution.
Clinical Results
Stentra is already in use at several U.S. cancer facilities, including a collaboration with Stanford Health Care. Kallisio reports that patients tolerated the device throughout their full course of radiation, with consistent day-to-day positioning and no treatment days missed due to the device. Detailed clinical findings are being prepared for peer-reviewed publication.
