The new Daejeon center combines secure data infrastructure with additive manufacturing to target global defense supply chains.

Lincsolution, a South Korean additive manufacturing company, has opened the Daejeon Defense and Aerospace Center, a facility built specifically to produce 3D-printed components for defense and aerospace applications. The announcement, made on August 24, frames the center as a stepping stone into the global defense supply chain at a time when governments are rethinking how they source critical parts.

Security by Design

The center runs on an isolated network. Dedicated servers, design-for-additive-manufacturing terminals, and printer-control PCs are all kept separate from external networks. That setup is not paranoia. Defense buyers, especially in the United States, increasingly require cybersecurity and data-handling guarantees through programs like the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification. Lincsolution says it will gradually align its systems with those requirements to compete for higher-value defense contracts.

The approach reflects a wider trend. In defense, the digital thread matters as much as the physical part. A printed bracket is only useful if the design file, process parameters, and inspection records can be traced and protected from tampering. Lincsolution is essentially building the data architecture before chasing the production volume.

Linking to a Larger Foundry

The new hub is designed to work with Lincsolution's Daejeon AM Foundry, which is scheduled to relocate to a larger facility in December 2026. The foundry is billed as Korea's largest large-scale additive manufacturing center. By combining the secure design environment at the Defense and Aerospace Center with the production capacity of the foundry, Lincsolution hopes to handle everything from prototyping to mass production under one roof.

The company says the target applications include aircraft, satellites, launch vehicles, and guided weapons components. It also wants to support the localization of obsolete parts, a priority for military maintenance organizations that often struggle to source legacy components from original suppliers.

Why Defense Buyers Care

Additive manufacturing has obvious appeal for defense logistics. It promises shorter lead times, on-demand production, and the ability to print parts where they are needed instead of holding years of inventory. But adoption has been slowed by qualification, traceability, and cybersecurity concerns. Lincsolution is addressing the second two head-on, which may help it win contracts even before it proves its qualification track record.

The company is already working with domestic aerospace firms on next-generation space vehicle components. If it can turn that experience into certified production for international defense programs, the Daejeon center could become a useful case study for how additive manufacturing fits into secure, distributed supply chains.
