Liqcreate's new Tray resin is a CE Class 1 biocompatible material designed for 3D printing custom dental impression trays in clinical settings.
New CE-Certified Resin Makes 3D-Printed Dental Trays Ready for Clinical Use
Liqcreate has released Tray, a biocompatible resin specifically formulated for 3D printing custom dental impression trays. The material carries CE Class 1 certification, which means it meets the safety standards required for European clinical use.
Dental labs have been experimenting with 3D-printed trays for years. The problem was material certification. Most standard resins are not biocompatible enough for intraoral contact. Liqcreate says it developed Tray in collaboration with dental laboratories and clinicians to solve exactly that gap.
The workflow is straightforward. Scan a patient's mouth, design a custom tray in software, print it on any DLP or LCD resin printer, and post-cure. The result is a tray that fits precisely and can be used directly with impression materials.
CE Class 1 certification matters because it removes regulatory friction for European practices. Labs and clinics can stock the resin without jumping through the hoops required for higher-risk medical devices.
This is part of a broader shift. Dental 3D printing is moving from experimental to operational. Materials like Tray are the proof that the infrastructure is finally catching up to the hardware.
