MIT Center for Advanced Production Technologies will run a 5-day intensive program blending campus instruction with hands-on industry immersion at North Americas leading 3D printing event.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Center for Advanced Production Technologies is launching an intensive Enterprise Additive Manufacturing course that will coincide with RAPID + TCT 2026, North Americas largest additive manufacturing exhibition.

Program Structure

The five-day professional program, running April 13-17, 2026 in Boston, combines 3.5 days of lectures and workshops on MITs campus with two half-days at the RAPID + TCT exposition. Participants will engage directly with machine manufacturers, materials providers, and service bureaus on the show floor.

What Attendees Will Learn

Engineers and manufacturing specialists will learn to design, cost, and plan AM applications through a blend of lectures, case studies, and team-based projects. Each team will define an additively manufactured part or product, develop initial designs, perform cost modeling, and create production strategies considering process selection, materials, and supply chain factors.

MIT faculty and staff will guide attendees in connecting classroom learning with real-world technology scouting and business development opportunities at the exhibition.

Industry Context

The launch comes at a critical time for additive manufacturing adoption. According to recent market intelligence from CONTEXT, overall 3D printing hardware revenues rose 5% year-over-year in Q3 2025, with strong demand from aerospace, defense, and domestic manufacturing in China driving growth.

The program aims to help bridge the gap between experimental AM technologies and real-world production deployment.
