Strategic partnership gives independent pharmacies access to on-demand 3D printed medications, potentially producing 2,000+ doses per hour.
Pete Pharma has announced a strategic partnership with Atrium24 Technologies to bring pharmaceutical 3D printing to independent pharmacies across the United States. The collaboration aims to democratize access to personalized medicine manufacturing at the local pharmacy level.
Bridging Pharma and Local Care
The partnership establishes Pete Pharma as the primary pharmaceutical 3D printing provider within the Atrium24 Group Purchasing Organization (GPO). Member pharmacies will gain access to preferred pricing on the Pete Pharma 3D printing platform, powered by FABRx technology.
"This partnership reflects our shared belief that independent pharmacies deserve access to scalable, next-generation manufacturing tools," said Marc Joiner, Owner of Pete Pharma.
What Can Be 3D Printed?
The FABRx M3DIMAKER system can produce over 1,000 doses per hour, with configurations capable of exceeding 2,000 doses per hour. The technology enables pharmacies to manufacture:
- Immediate-release tablets
- Extended-release formulations
- Oral films
- Troches and chewables
- Suppositories
Why This Matters
3D printed pharmaceuticals represent a fundamental shift in how medications are manufactured and distributed. Rather than relying on centralized manufacturing facilities, this approach enables:
- Personalized dosing tailored to individual patient needs
- On-demand production reducing medication shortages
- Lower distribution costs by manufacturing closer to patients
- Novel drug geometries impossible with traditional tablet pressing
While FDA-approved 3D printed drugs remain limited, this partnership represents a significant step toward bringing the technology to everyday healthcare settings.
