Phase3D has partnered with Phillips Federal to distribute its in-situ monitoring hardware across the North American defense market. The deal makes Phillips the exclusive reseller for Phase3D's Fringe Inspection systems, which measure and verify metal 3D printing quality during the build process.

The partnership is a milestone for both companies. Phillips Federal already supplies the US Navy's AM Center of Excellence in Danville, Virginia, and has deep relationships with defense primes. Phase3D has spent the past two years landing research contracts with NASA and the Air Force, but selling measurement hardware to procurement officers requires a different kind of reach.

Shared ties to EOS also smooth the path. Phillips is one of the largest EOS resellers in the US, and Phase3D counts EOS among its existing technology partners. That overlap means Phillips engineers already understand how to position Phase3D's hardware alongside metal AM machine toolchains.

This deal follows several other Phase3D moves in 2026: a Japanese reseller agreement, direct online sales of its Fringe Operator software, and an Air Force contract to explore ceramic composite inspection. The company is building a global distribution network faster than most additive measurement startups.

The broader lesson is that metal AM is still in the early stages of building reseller networks. CNC machining existed for decades before resellers became the standard channel. Metal 3D printing may need to follow the same path toward standardization and reliability before third-party distribution becomes common. For now, Phase3D's defense channel deal is an early indicator of where the market is heading.
