First INDX conversion kits are leaving the factory, complete CORE One+ (Gen 2) printers with 8-tool Bondtech toolchangers are now in stock.
Prusa Research and Bondtech have started shipping the first batch of INDX conversion kits for the Prusa CORE One+, and for the first time buyers can order a complete CORE One+ (Gen 2) with the 8-tool toolchanger already installed. Assembled and kit versions are available in 4-tool and 8-tool configurations.
How the INDX works
The INDX is a passive toolchanger system. A single active Smart Head moves above the print area and picks up interchangeable tool docks. Each dock holds its own nozzle, so you can load eight different filaments and switch between them without purging, wiping, or wasting plastic on a tower. The nozzles heat by induction, which means they reach printing temperature in seconds and cool quickly when parked. Prusa claims a true toolchange time of roughly 12 seconds, with only 13 milligrams of material used to prime the next nozzle.
Because the tools carry no electronics, adding a fifth or eighth material is cheap. You buy another nozzle and dock, not another complete print head. The system supports nozzle sizes from 0.25 mm up to 1.0 mm and handles PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS, PC, PA, TPU, PVA, and BVOH at temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius.
What you get in the box
The conversion kit includes the INDX Smart Head, the chosen number of passive tools with 0.4 mm nozzles, docking hardware, PTFE tubing, a top cover with automatic ventilation, and a nozzle cleaning system. Owners of existing CORE One+ printers can install the kit themselves. Prusa says all current PrusaSlicer profiles, filament settings, and Prusa Connect configurations carry over unchanged after installation.
Pricing and availability
The first batch of conversion kits sold out quickly after pre-orders opened. Prusa has reopened orders for the next batch, with shipping expected by the end of August. Prices are $749 for the 4-tool kit and $999 for the 8-tool kit, tariffs included. Complete assembled printers are also available for buyers who want the system calibrated at the factory.
Later this year, Prusa plans to release INDX conversion kits for the larger CORE One L+ and fully assembled L+ models with the toolchanger preinstalled. An upgrade path from 4 tools to 8 tools is also in the works.
