Prusa kept prices flat while adding nozzle wipers, faster toolhead calibration, and 60C chamber temps across its upgraded printers.

Prusa Research quietly overhauled its high-end desktop lineup this month. The company announced refreshed versions of the CORE One+, CORE One L, and XL: now called the CORE One+ (Gen 2), CORE One L+, and XL+. The upgrades focus on print quality, ease of use, and long-term maintenance. Prices did not change.

What changed across the lineup

Every model in the refresh gets new GT1.5 belts and an integrated nozzle wiper. The belts are designed to reduce moire patterns on smooth surfaces. The wiper cleans residual filament off the nozzle before each print starts, which helps prevent stringing and small blemishes on the first layer.

The XL+ receives the most visible hardware addition: a 360-degree cooling system borrowed from the MK4S and CORE One platforms. More even airflow around the nozzle improves overhangs, bridges, and small details. High-flow nozzles are now standard equipment. A permanently mounted Tool Offset Sensor aligns toolheads roughly twenty times faster than the previous removable-pin method.

The CORE One+ (Gen 2) gains a redesigned heatbed mounting system that removes the warm-up wait for materials at or below 85C. The top panel now lifts off from above, which is convenient if the printer sits on a low table. The CORE One L+ receives the same belt and wiper treatment.

All three enclosures can now reach chamber temperatures around 60C when paired with the optional chamber heater. That matters for ABS and large PETG or PC Blend prints, where a stable chamber environment reduces warping.

Upgrades and future plans

Existing owners are not left behind. Prusa is selling complete upgrade kits and individual parts. Open orders for unshipped XL, CORE One L, and CORE One machines will automatically convert to the refreshed versions.

Prusa also confirmed that the INDX automatic tool-changing system is coming to the CORE One+. A new Pressure Advance calibration routine uses the printer's load cell to measure filament and adjust flow parameters before each print. Extrusion-aware acceleration limits should prevent the extruder from being asked for flow changes faster than it can deliver.

An HT Hotend for high-temperature engineering materials is scheduled for September across the CORE One and CORE One L families. PrusaSlicer 3.0 is on the way with workflow changes the company says will make slicing faster.

The bottom line

This refresh is not a radical redesign. It is a collection of quality-of-life improvements aimed at users who keep machines running for years. The upgrade-path approach remains Prusa's clearest advantage over competitors that treat each generation as a clean break. For shops that already own a CORE One or XL, the option to buy a kit and extend the machine's useful life is worth more than any single new feature.
