Tripo AI latest funding round makes it the newest AI 3D company to score nine-figure investment in 2026.
Tripo AI has closed a combined Series B and Series B+ funding round totaling approximately 3 billion yuan, or about $447 million, led by MPCi. The raise is a blunt reminder that AI-generated 3D content has moved from a research curiosity to a venture-scale market in under two years. The company ties the announcement to the preview launch of Tripo P2.0, its next-generation 3D foundation model.
What P2.0 Changes
The earlier Tripo P1.0 model produced triangle meshes capped at 20,000 faces. P2.0 raises that ceiling to 50,000 triangles and adds native quad-topology output up to 25,000 faces. Quad meshes are generally easier to edit, rig, and animate, which matters for game studios and real-time production pipelines. The model also accepts up to four reference images and reconstructs side and rear geometry that single-image generators typically miss. Generation time ranges from 10 to 40 seconds depending on polygon count.
A Crowded and Fast-Moving Market
Tripo AI itself raised $50 million earlier in 2026 from Alibaba and Baidu Ventures. The jump to nearly $447 million in a single round reflects how quickly valuations and check sizes have expanded across the generative 3D category. Rival Meshy closed a roughly $400 million Series B at a $1.5 billion valuation in July 2026. Alphabet acquired Common Sense Machines in January 2026, adding generative 3D assets to Google spatial AI efforts. Each of these moves signals that large investors expect 3D foundation models to underpin game development, virtual reality, and embodied AI in the near term.
What It Means for Users
Tripo P2.0 is accessible now through Tripo Studio. Single-image generation offers two free runs per user. Multi-view input is reserved for subscribers, with a full commercial release promised after additional stability and control improvements. For game developers and 3D artists, the native quad-topology output is the headline feature. It removes the retopology bottleneck that forces artists to clean up AI-generated meshes before they can rig or animate them. If Tripo can deliver on that promise at scale, it compresses a workflow step that currently takes hours into seconds.
The funding environment remains favorable for companies that can demonstrate working product alongside revenue growth. Tripo AI and Meshy are the leaders so far, but expect more players to seek similar rounds before the end of 2026.
