Tripo AI closed a 3 billion yuan funding round and launched Tripo P2.0, adding native quad topology to AI-generated 3D models.
Tripo AI closed a funding round of roughly 3 billion yuan, or about $447 million, across Series B and B+ raises. The money comes with a new model: Tripo P2.0, now in public preview. The company says the system generates production-ready 3D objects in seconds and is the first in the industry to offer native quad topology output.
Quad topology uses four-sided polygons instead of triangles, which makes meshes easier to edit, rig, and animate. P2.0 supports triangle meshes up to 50,000 faces and quad meshes up to 25,000 faces. The model also accepts up to four reference images, front, left, right, and back, to reconstruct geometry with better accuracy on sides and rear surfaces. Generation time ranges from 10 to 40 seconds depending on polygon count.
The pricing structure keeps single-image generation free at two runs per user. Multi-view input requires a subscription. Tripo plans a full P2.0 release with additional stability and control features.
Tripo's raise comes amid a wave of investment in AI-generated 3D content. Rival Meshy closed a nearly $400 million Series B at a $1.5 billion valuation in July 2026. Alphabet acquired Common Sense Machines, a Cambridge startup building 2D-to-3D generative models, in January 2026. Earlier in 2026, Tripo itself raised $50 million from Alibaba and Baidu Ventures.
The capital chasing generative 3D technology reflects growing demand from game studios, virtual reality platforms, and embodied AI pipelines. Whether Tripo can turn that investment into sustainable revenue depends on how many studios adopt its tools over the next year.
