Singapore startup Bioactivx earned HSA approval for its 3D printed wound care matrix and is scaling production with UltiMaker through a new MOU.

UltiMaker has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore-based Bioactivx to co-develop an on-demand 3D printed wound care manufacturing solution.

The partnership follows Bioactivx's achievement of HSA approval for its Bioactiv Matrix, a synthetic, animal-free regenerative wound care product manufactured on UltiMaker 3D printers. The company also opened a medical-grade filament production and cleanroom print farm facility in Singapore.

Singapore's Health Sciences Authority carries WHO maturity level 4 classification for medical device regulations. Bioactivx also holds ISO 13485 certification. Those approvals validate the use of UltiMaker systems for end-use medical implant manufacturing, not just prototyping.

The MOU targets distributed production closer to the point of need. By reducing reliance on centralized manufacturing and cold-chain logistics, the partners aim to shorten the time between injury and treatment during the critical golden period.

Dr. Teo Peili, CEO of Bioactivx, cited UltiMaker's open architecture as essential for developing the proprietary print process. Michiel Alting von Geusau, CEO of UltiMaker, described the collaboration as a blueprint for how on-demand 3D printing can transform medical manufacturing.
