A 100 Square Meter Booth Built in Six Weeks

UPM Group pulled off a full 3D printed exhibition stand at EuroShop 2026 in Düsseldorf. The roughly 100 m² installation included architectural structures and custom furniture, all produced additively. The company split production between two WASP-equipped facilities in Modena and London, which let it treat robotic 3D printing as a distributed manufacturing line rather than a single bottleneck.

The timeline compressed a one-off, geometrically complex build into about six weeks. That speed is the real story here. Trade show stands have fixed deadlines, and traditional fabrication methods struggle with complex curves and tight turnaround. Large-format AM solves both problems at once.

Why Exhibition Fabricators Are Turning to Large-Format Printing

UPM Group is not alone in this approach. Zaha Hadid Architects used a WASP HDP XL extruder to print a six-meter air traffic control tower for its Passenger Terminal Expo 2026 stand in London. That build ran for 270 hours straight, printing fifteen modular panels in fire-resistant PETG with LED lighting embedded directly into the structure.

Trindo GmbH built what it called the first fully 3D printed exhibition booth out of sand-based material for Düsseldorf's Viscom show. The booth folded eight illuminated displays and wall modules into the printed structure, then assembled and dismantled on-site.

The Pattern Is Clear

Across these projects, the same workflow keeps showing up. Design, fabrication, and installation collapse into a single deadline-driven process. Large-format AM lets fabricators print complex geometry fast, ship it in pieces, and assemble it on-site without the waste and lead time of traditional carpentry or modular builds.

UPM Group's EuroShop stand is another data point confirming that this is no longer a novelty. It is becoming the default for high-end exhibition builds where geometry and speed matter more than unit cost.
